چکیده
The abuse of synthetic antibiotics is one the leading causes emergence antibiotic-resistant microorganisms that have become primary health concern. To overcome this resistance and counteract all side effects drugs, attention was diverted towards natural resources for developing antimicrobial substances. This study tests effect carrageenan isolated from Kappaphycus alvarezii on pathogenic bacteria. Carrageenan a bioactive compound extracted red algae. K. using hot water extraction. property tested Minimum Inhibitory Concentration bacterial cell growth rate. Moreover, commercial antibacterial hand wash anti-acne toner were used as comparative agents. Firstly, series concentrations used, 25 µg/mL to 10 mg/mL. results showed no activity ethanol toward strains in study, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa Staphylococcus aureus. However, exhibited growth-boosting over used. Thus, further studies can be carried out different extract methods ensure anti-microbial compounds during

Analysis of Bioactive Compounds and Antimicrobial Activity of Marine Algae Kappaphycus Alvarezii Using Three Solvent Extracts
The seaweeds are economically valuable resources, used as food, fodder, fertilizer and medicine and thus useful to mankind in many ways. In the present study, Kappaphycus alvarezii, a marine alga, has been analysed for the presence of bioactive products using three solvent extracts. Antimicrobial activity was also done using the same extracts of seaweed. The results revealed that the selected s...

In recent years, a significant number of novel metabolites with potent pharmacological properties (antioxidant, antitumor, anti-HIV etc.) have been discovered from the marine organisms. Kappaphycus alvarezii (Doty). Being an invasive in the Gulf of Mannar after 2000 AD, has high content of steroid, phenol etc., this work was the first report of its medical application. The present study investi...
متن کاملChemical analysis and biorefinery of red algae Kappaphycus alvarezii for efficient production of glucose from residue of carrageenan extraction process
BACKGROUND Biorefineries serve to efficiently utilize biomass and their by-products. Algal biorefineries are designed to generate bioproducts for commercial use. Due to the high carbohydrate content of algal biomass, biorefinery to generate biofuels, such as bioethanol, is of great interest. Carrageenan is a predominant polysaccharide hydrocolloid found in red macroalgae and is widely used in f...
متن کاملBioethanol a by-product of agar and carrageenan production industry from the tropical red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii
The two red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii are cultivated in Malaysia for producing agar and carrageenan, respectively. The residues of these seaweeds after removing agar and carrageenan by dilute acid treatment were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis using cellulase (Cellic CTec 2). In the optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis, highest glucose concentration was achiev...
